Alongside Waga Energy in accelerating its European expansion

WAGA ENERGY

Waga Energy, a world leader in upgrading biomethane at waste storage sites, has secured a structured green financing of €128 million. This 10-year operation will allow :

  • to refinance a portfolio of about twenty WAGABOX® units in operation,
  • support the development of new projects in France, Spain, and Italy,
  • and fund the development of new projects not yet contracted in Europe.

This operation, carried out by a consortium of five European banking groups, marks a key step in speeding up its development in Europe.

Crédit Agricole played a major role in this deal, with a €35 million ticket jointly mobilized by Crédit Agricole CIB, Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies, Crédit Agricole Leasing & Factoring, the Sud Rhône Alpes regional bank, and LCL.

Crédit Agricole CIB and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies acted as mandated arrangers, while Crédit Agricole CIB was also given the role of global coordinator and green coordinator.

The funds will be used for green projects eligible under the European taxonomy aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly through the capture and use of biogas from waste storage sites.

This sustainable finance operation reflects the Isère-based SME’s commitment to the energy transition, supported by Crédit Agricole’s recognized expertise in this field and at the heart of its ACT2028 strategy.
