JP Energie Environnement (JPee), an independent French renewable energy producer, and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole group dedicated to supporting the environmental transitions of its customers, announce the creation of a joint development platform to support farmers in the implementation of their agrivoltaic projects.

Agrivoltaism is a major solution that addresses the challenges facing the agricultural world (energy, climate, food, etc.) by reconciling local renewable electricity production with the sustainable maintenance of agricultural activity. Through this new platform, JP Energie Environnement and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies, long-standing partners, intend to contribute to the establishment, maintenance, and development of French farms, while promoting local renewable energy production.

Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies is mobilising the Crédit Agricole regional bank network to support farmers in implementing their agrivoltaic projects. JPee, for its part, is responsible for managing the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of the facilities.

The joint Crédit Agricole/JPee platform takes the form of a 50/50 joint venture between JP Energie Environnement and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies.

Two agrivoltaic projects are already under development in the Grand Est region.

  • The first, located in Alsace, concerns a 22-hectare cattle pasture. It could eventually lead to the commissioning of a 16 MW agrivoltaic power plant and contribute to the establishment of a young female farmer.
  • The second project, in the Bas-Rhin department, involves equipping a 15-hectare sheep pasture for an estimated installed capacity of 10 MW.

The Crédit Agricole/JPee platform aims to build a portfolio of projects representing 450 MW of renewable electricity production under development by 2030.

Xavier Nass, CEO of JP Energie Environnement: “With the creation of this development platform, we are affirming a deep conviction: the energy transition can only succeed if it is supported by the regions and those who bring them to life. Alongside Crédit Agricole Transitions & Énergies, we are implementing a demanding and operational approach, serving farmers and an agrivoltaic model that strengthens the resilience of farms while producing competitive, local and sustainable energy. This joint venture reflects the shared desire to build, in an uncertain national context, coherent, useful projects that are firmly rooted in the reality on the ground. It is a decisive step towards a portfolio of large-scale agri-PV projects at the heart of the French energy transition. “

Laurent Perno, Director of Specialised Market Development, Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies:
“By launching this joint platform with JP Énergie Environnement, Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies reaffirms its long-term commitment to farmers. This initiative fully illustrates the ambition of the Crédit Agricole group in its new medium-term strategic plan ACT 2028: to become the leader in transitions by offering its customers accessible, high-performance solutions tailored to their needs. This commitment is also in line with the roles of regional shapers and trusted partners that the Regional Banks have enshrined in their Ambitions for 2030. Drawing on their regional roots and their long-standing close relationships with farmers, we are supporting the development of projects that combine the sustainability of farms with the production of local renewable energy. Agrivoltaics is a concrete response to the climate and economic challenges facing the agricultural sector. “

To date, the initiative has been launched in four Crédit Agricole regional banks (Alsace Vosges, Centre-Loire, Centre-Ouest, Val de France).
